Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Care Plans in Connecticut

Most of the Anthem Blue Cross medical insurance plans are "open access". This means you as an individual or as a family, can visit any doctor in the network, without getting a referral from your primary care doctor first. There are 3 types of health plans in Connecticut: 1. HMO plans, 2. Upfront deductible plans, and 3. HSA compatible plans.

1. HMO plans and rates: There are only 2 HMO plans called BlueCare Direct. These medical plans have pregnancy and maternity benefits. Both of these health plans have copayments for doctor visits and prescriptions. Both HMO plans have larger payments for hospital stays and outpatient surgery. 2. Up Front Deductible plans and rates: These plans are called Century Preferred Direct. There are 2 types called the 80/20 plan and the 100 plan.These plans have a calendar year deductible that must be met before the plan pays for medical care costs. The "upfront deductible" does not apply to prescription drugs.Once you have paid the "up front deductible" and coinsurance, you have 100% coverage for doctors, hospitals, and medical services. 3. HSA compatible plans and rates: These Health Savings Account plans are like the up front deductible plans above, but have two differences. They are:
1.The deductible does not apply to specific preventative care.
